Topic One: The Mystery: Do You See What I See?
Do you often wonder why children turn out so differently? Two of Lori's friends each had a child. One child became Miss America 2002, and a few days later the other was arrested. Lori was perplexed. Why did these children who were raised so similarly, turn out so differently? Through interviews with more than 1,000 individuals about their own childhood and parenting experiences, Lori discovered common themes. Nearly every person who walked away from their parents' lifestyle, convictions, or values reiterated: I needed something from my parents that they couldn't or didn't give me. In many instances the parents weren't even aware that their behavior was slowly driving their child away. This session addresses the top six needs of children and helps parents discover if they are meeting each child’s specific needs.
Topic Two: Beneath the Surface: Digging into the Past Reveals Keys for the Future

Unfortunately, unresolved wounds from our childhoods deeply affect our lives and our children's lives, in ways we sometimes fail to see or understand until it is too late. This session answers the questions: Why do I have to look, isn't the past the past? How do I know if I have unresolved wounds? How do I integrate my childhood as part of my life story? Topic Three: Mission Possible: How to Follow the Leads, Find the Missing Links, and Connect with our Children.

1) Hoorah for Summer: When my children were little—I called it summer season—most days were sunny and warm. They clung to me like koala cubs to their mother. I could do no wrong.
2) The Chill of Fall: The leaves began to shake, the winds howl. Some days my cubs buried their heads in my chest and snuggled. Other days their claws came out and they didn’t want anything to do with me.
3) The Bite of Winter: It’s cold, dark and windy. I don’t know where my precious cubs have gone. It’s lonely and the days have become so long. My heart is breaking.
4) Spring Arrives: As we embrace, we’re different. She’s grown, she’s changed. I’ve grown, I’ve changed. My cub has come back—not to my home—but to my heart.
